Double Bass Intro
No Double Bass related site is complete without some nice lookin’ basses, right? Here’s my favorite, a circa 1870 Bohemian bass I purchased at the World of Basses in Germany. I’ve played this bass mostly as it was intended to be played, in all kinds of orchestral situations- the Mahler 1 solo sounds great on it- but even more fun are the situations that the maker of this instrument would not even have conceived of. Like being in a recording studio cutting demos with John Mellencamp, or being in an onstage jam session with Sarah MacLachlan and her band at the Lilith Fair in front of 20,000 people.
